CT scan and neurosurgery appt.

Autumn had a CT scan this morning and then we followed up with her neurosurgeon this afternoon. He said everything looks great! I asked about her ACII malformation and if they could see much of it from the CT. He said no, that the MRI shows that...he said he did look at her MRI from last year and noticed her ACII looks fine. Apparently, we learned that with the ACII there is tightness but Autumn has plenty of room and so it's not the ACII that is causing her issues. He said that the anatomy of the back of her brain is just different than most...her brainstem is much smaller than it should be. Interesting to learn this after 2 years. We always knew it was immature but not that it was smaller. He still believes that the brainstem will mature with time but it will never grow as large as it should be. Not really sure what that means for her future. Not sure if or how it will affect her brain functions or intelligence. He does say that as long as she's healthy that he thinks she will outgrow the need for a trach/vent. He was very pleased at what she can do...like responding to us, interacting, playing, army crawling, etc. He did notice her right side showed more muscle weakness than her left. He seemed VERY pleased with her progress. So, he said if anything changes and her breathing issues worsen to have her pulmo notify him but other than that we will not see him again for another year. Whoo Hoo! Hope we can stick to that plan!
