ENT check-up
Autumn had her ear tube check up today. She has been having drainage from her right ear so I was kind of nervous her right tube had come out already. Nope. Still there. :) yay! She mainly lays on her right side so that is probably why the dr said, he recommeneded putting drops in her ear a couple of days to get it dry.
He asked why a bronch scope was not done when tubes were done. Um, because he decided to not do it when they scheduled the appointment even though he first discussed he wanted it done & then 20 mins later decided not to. Well, he was saying we should get it done. What? There was no reason because she's still on the vent but with her needing a modified speaking vavle he feels she needs to be checked. So, he had me hold my finger over her trach while we were in the office to see how she reacted. You can tell she has to struggle for breaths. He looked at her scope from 2010 & noticed her trach was tight fitting in her airway & you need room around the trach tube to pass air for breathing with the speaking valve. When she had her last scope, she had an even smaller trach than she has now so she's not able to move air around it at all. Problem is we can not downsize because she needs a larger trach while on the vent because then she will have a leak & it sets off the vent alarms. So, we decided as long as she's on the vent, she needs to have the larger trach & we will wait on a bronch scope at a later time & just stick to using a modified speaking valve.
