Speech Evaluation
ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) came over today to do Autumn's speech evaluation. We met her speech therapist who will be coming over once a month to check in and work with Autumn on her feeds. She will just make sure she's getting her sucking/swallowing down and we are not having problems. She said most kids with trachs that will take bottles and spooned baby food start having problems when they get to solid foods so she will just be with us to walk through all of her changes until she's eating like a regular kid. She also recommended some sign language videos and books so that we can all start learning how to sign to Autumn so we can one day communicate with her. Once Autumn is a little older she will come out a little more often to work on signing with all of us. I asked her about a valve to put on her vent so we can hear her make noise but they don't have any so until she gets off the vent I guess my dreams of hearing her make noises will have to wait. :( Now we just have to wait for physical and occupational therapy to come do their evaluations so she can get all the therapy she needs. They will provide therapy until she's 3 and then the school district takes over from there or if we move then ECI will take over wherever we are. :)

We are so very blessed to have Early Intervention services. Our daughter received physical therapy when she first came home - which she has since exited out of. She also continues to receive speech therapy. EI made a huge difference and we have been so very thankful for having these services.
I am so glad that Autumn will be receiving them too!
