Vent clinic

Today everything checked out great at the vent clinic. We are not changing any settings right now since Autumn has had a couple of apnea alarms on her vent...they assume they are just swallow breaths since her belly is large and that is what is causing them since she does not appear physically to be having apnea. I asked if we should see a GI specialist about it because a lot of drs. have mentioned it but the pulmon. said to ask Dr. Adams what he thinks. He is our SB dr. and kind of picky about his patients and knows just about every problem that comes up. We will also ask him about prune juice for her constipation or if he wants to do some stool softeners. So, her CO2 and blood gases were great and so were her chest x-rays. We are going to start her at a low breath rate for her sleeps study tonight and she how she does. She usually ends up with needing 20bpm sometime at night so they will see if we can adjust her pressure support any. We are not going to do anymore type of day weaning unless we just drop her pressure support some. We do not have to go back until August so we get the month of July off and no trips!!!! YEA! Each trip seems longer and makes us so ready to move here already. So, off to spend time with the family before Autumn and I have to head to the hospital to stay the night.

Oh, I forgot Autumn now weighs 16.4 lbs. they wanted her to gain a little more than she did but by looking at her big thighs and belly they decided she's at a good weight and so they do not want us to up her feeds right now. She's still at 6 oz. four times a day and eats about 1/2 jar of baby food 3 times a day.
